Scams and Abuse FAQ

How do I spot a scammer?

It is your responsibility as a user to protect yourself.

While even the most careful user can be tricked, these tips can help you avoid the majority of scams.

1. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.
- A good quality costume will probably run you a few hundred dollars. If you see an amazing costume for an amazing price, be wary.

2. Run an image search.
- Sometimes dishonest sellers will supply pictures of costumes they did not make or do not own. Run a search on cosplay.com to see if the same images appear under a different name.

3. Ask for more images.
- Ask for another image of the costume/design in question, preferably with an identifying namecard. A serious seller will not mind taking this extra step.

4. Insist on PayPal/Credit/Check
- Do not send cash or any method of payment that does not allow you to dispute charges.

Cosplay Classifieds does not handle conflict between users. If you feel you have been the victim of fraud, please contact your local police department.

If you would like to report a dishonest user, please provide a link to the ad in question and any pertinent information. Cosplay Classifieds will examine all available evidence an ban any consistently untrustworthy users.
